Baggages defined in Brittanica Dictionary are the feelings, beliefs, problems, or past events that can make life difficult for a person or group.
Baggages can be perceived as burdensome and contribute to the negative experiences one can encounter.
Baggages are meant to be rid of as they can create a high level of stress that adversely impacts one’s health.
The best decision you can apply is to let go of all the baggage before the end of 2025.
Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Baggage to let go of in an effort to improve your life.
- Negative talk and self-doubt. – Past mistakes do not define who you are. The negative ways you think of yourself can contribute to low self-esteem and affect your confidence.
- Worrying about things outside of your control – Regardless of how you try, there will always be things outside of your control. If you continue to pay attention to those things, you will only be setting up yourself for unnecessary stress and disappointment.
- The need for external validation – Your worth should never be determined by other people’s opinion of you. The only validation you need is that of your own and God’s. Seek to be in conformity with God’s will.
- The fear of saying no – Every request will require a yes or no response. Don’t allow yourself to carry guilt if you have to say no. When confronted, take a moment to determine the more appropriate response that will work in your best interest. Don’t be a slave to fear.
- Toxic relationships – It’s important to think about what will contribute to your happiness, peace and success in life. Toxic relationships add discomfort, disappointment and stress to one’s life and living.
- Bad habits – Bad habits are repetitive negative behavioural patterns. Identify the bad habits you need to get rid of and work on a plan to remove each habit from your life. Monitor the progress you make overtime and further adjust accordingly.
- Sin – Sin is to blame for all sorrow. Its either a result of your actions or the reaction of someone else’s thoughts and behaviors. Choose to get rid of your sins and use wisdom in responding to the sins of others that affect you.
Conclusion
Being in control of the things that negatively impact your progress can add to your overall experiences in life.
Don’t allow others to have the power over the way you live. Heed the voice of God only.
The decisions you make will have tremendous effect on your outcomes and will help to reduce the level of baggage you have to manage.
Be proactive in preventing the buildup of baggage that can retard your future progress.
